Moving In : : September 4, 2010

Moving into our first home was an experience. Things went fairly well and we are grateful for all of our family and friends who came from near and far to help. We had my entire family there plus Nick & Jess, Sarah, and tons of friends from Mansfield. Just packing up the apartment was a challenge - getting everything into boxes and ready to be moved.

The day we moved in (Sunday) I went and got the truck in the morning. It was supposed to be a 17' truck with an automatic transmission but there weren't any available. I ended up with a 24' truck with a manual transmission. 3rd gear didn't work and 1st was a challenge to keep from popping out of. Despite the challenges this created, we didn't have any real problems driving. It only took 2 loads and a few hours to move all of our belongings to our new home. We bought 3 Deschner's pizzas and proceeded to relax and feast. Everyone from Mansfield left but our family was still there.

The next morning we went over to the appartment to clean up. Apparently the previous owners had simply left their garbage in the family room and it didn't take long for the dog to discover and make a mess of it. Mom cleaned that up for us. We spent most of Monday cleaning the apartment and getting the last little bit of our stuff out of it. It was time to say goodbye - the apartment had served us well. By now, we are moved into our home and have begun to make it our own. Check back later for some info on the grape arbor we built for our anniversary.
