YFC Christmas Auction : : August 25, 2010

Well, about 2 weeks ago Kelly started volunteering with Youth for Christ. At that time, she started to organize Saturday November 29th's Christmas Auction fund raiser. Yeah, it was being worked on before that by other staff members but it wasn't really being organized yet. So, she put together most of the organization in a week and a half...

And the auction went quite well. YFC exceeded their "minimum goal" by a significant percentage and there were about 50 registered bidders. There was a silent auction and a live auction. Kelly and I ran the silent auction and boy was it crazy! We were running around answering questions, helping bidders, replacing items, tagging items and more. All of this was while I was still pretty much in pain from my poison ivy on my face (yes, I got poison ivy again - on my face). I also had to run a veggie platter over to our church as the silent auction was really starting to get crazy. But I made it back in time to help out with the hardest part - ending the auction and setting the winning bidders.

We also purchased a few things while we were helping out. Kelly bought a throw with hearts in its design and I purchased (for $12) a frame-pack for backpacking. I figure this way I can now go backpacking with Bella and a friend or two - I just know that she'll love being able to run around on the trail in the snow. Yes, in the snow. I plan to go at some point this winter so that maybe I can do some cross-country skiing or something. Anyway, Kelly also bought a very nice Christmas decoration. It's a basket with flowers and greens and bows and glitter and things. It's pretty cool and she got it for about $15 or so. She bought it while I was delivering vegetables and she thought I was going to be upset about it. Guess she doesn't know me as well as she should, eh?
