Break Out Another Thousand : : September 6, 2010 |
| Break Out Another Thousand is the term used by one Yamaha enthusiast to describe her jet boat. My buddy Nick and I traveled to North Carolina this past weekend to pick up a 1999 Yamaha LS2000 jet boat. Read on for a little more about the boat. We were looking for a family activity and decided that a power boat would be a lot of fun to try for a few seasons. The safety (no exposed impeller) and maneuverability (will do 360 deg flat spins safely) of a jet boat are what drew us in initially. We hemmed and hawed over Sea Doo vs Yamaha and finally went with a Yamaha because although they aren't quite as powerful, they are supposed to be more reliable and have a little better manners on the water without as much constant attention. After debating size for quite a while, we settled on a 20' 7-seater so that we could bring friends along with us (initally we were looking at a 15' 4-seater). So we had our perfect boat, the Yamaha LS2000 and only needed to find one that was for sale at a reasonable price. We searched high and low and ebay and finally found one through Yamaha Jet Boaters in North Carolina and we bought it. This boat has two 3-cylinder 1131cc 2-cycle engines, two jet pumps, 19'6" of pure fiberglass and vinyl and seating for 7. With a 50:1 premix oil ratio, full 42 gallon tank (7 gallon reserve), 8 cup holders, 7 passengers, 6 storage compartments and a 3-second hole shot (time to plane) this boat will reach ~50MPH... needless to say, this is one big-boy toy. :) |
