This week while Mom & Ed were down visiting we had a storm. Actually we have storms most nights but this was a real storm. There were tornado warnings in many of the surrounding counties and we got inches of rain in a matter of an hour or two. We learned that we get serious water in the basement even with the french drain in the yard working hard....
We had a river. I mean real, flowing water. I took some video of it. I also took some photos of the cause - a river of water running down the sidewalk beside our house. I suppose what I am going to do is dig out beside the foundation along the side of the house, water-proof it, and install a curtain drain or something right along there under our flower beds. There is already a french drain the entire length of the house on that side but it is further out from the house and so all the water there on the sidewalk and flower gardens doesn't get drained by it. If I have any updates I'll post them. |
